What are credit repair services?

Credit repair services, as Credit by Yelison provides them, mean helping a consumer understand the contents of their credit reports, identify items they believe are inaccurate, incomplete, unverifiable, or outdated, and pursue the dispute process that federal law already gives every consumer the right to use. It is education and staff-guided support — not a legal service, not a loan-approval service, and not a way to make accurate negative information disappear.

How does legitimate credit repair work?

It starts with a three-bureau report review: a staff member compares your Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion reports side by side so discrepancies are easy to see — the same account reported differently by two bureaus, an account on one report and not another, a balance or status that doesn't match. From there, we help you put together a specific, individualized dispute for anything that looks genuinely wrong — never a generic form letter sent to every bureau for every account regardless of the facts — and a staff member reviews every dispute before it's ever sent. See our full how credit repair works guide for the complete process.

What information may be disputed?

Only information that is inaccurate, incomplete, or unverifiable — not information you simply dislike. We distinguish two categories directly with you rather than encouraging a blanket dispute of everything on your report, a practice some operators use that can backfire:

  • Genuinely disputable:a wrong balance, wrong dates, an account that isn't yours, a status that doesn't match reality, or an item a bureau or furnisher can't verify when asked. See disputing credit report errors for the full process.
  • Accurate but negative: a late payment that actually happened, a collection for a debt you genuinely owed, a bankruptcy that was actually filed.

Can accurate negative information be removed?

No. Accurate, timely, and verifiable negative information generally cannot be removed simply because it's unfavorable — only information that is inaccurate, incomplete, or unverifiable can be legitimately disputed under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq.). An accurate late payment or a genuine collection can still fall off your report on its own timeline under the FCRA, but that's a matter of time passing, not something a dispute accomplishes. Any company that promises otherwise is describing something the law does not allow.

How long can the process take?

There is no universal timeline we can promise, and any company that gives you an exact completion date for your specific results isn't being accurate with you. What we can tell you about the mechanics: credit bureaus generally have 30 days to investigate a filed dispute, but how many rounds of disputes a case actually needs, and how quickly a furnisher responds, varies with the specific facts of your report.

What rights do consumers have?

The Credit Repair Organizations Act (15 U.S.C. § 1679 et seq.) gives you a written contract before any service begins, a right to cancel within three business days without penalty, a prohibition on any credit-repair company charging in advance of completed services, and a prohibition on false or misleading statements about what it can do. Separately, under the FCRA, you always have the right to dispute inaccurate information directly with the credit bureaus yourself, at no cost, without hiring anyone. See the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's credit reports and scores resources for the government's own guidance, and our Terms of Service for how these rights apply specifically to our service.

What can Credit by Yelison legally promise?

We do not and cannot guarantee that any specific item will be deleted, that your score will change by any particular amount, that you'll be approved for any credit product, or that a dispute will resolve within a specific timeframe. What we can promise is a real staff member reviewing your actual reports, an individualized written plan, and every dispute reviewed before it's sent — not a fabricated outcome the law doesn't allow any company to deliver.

How does a free consultation work?

You tell us about your situation, and a staff member reviews it and discusses your options with you directly — no payment before that conversation happens, and no pressure to continue afterward. If you move forward, that's when the three-bureau report review and written action plan begin. Online consultations are available in English and Spanish.

Identity theft and unfamiliar accounts

If accounts or inquiries on your report don't belong to you at all, that may indicate identity theft rather than an ordinary reporting error, and the right first step is different — see our identity theft and credit reports guide, which includes how to file a report at the FTC's IdentityTheft.gov.

Beyond disputes: credit education

We also walk you through what drives your credit profile going forward — payment history, and credit utilization(how much of your available revolving credit you're using), one of the more directly actionable factors most consumers can influence relatively quickly.

Availability

Online consultations are available. Credit-services laws vary by state, and we are still confirming exactly where this service can be formally offered — if you're unsure whether we can currently serve your state, ask during your free consultation before anything else is discussed.
