How Legitimate Credit Repair Actually Works

Educational information only, not legal advice. Results vary by individual situation and are never guaranteed.

The step-by-step process

  1. Free consultation. You tell us about your situation, and a staff member reviews it and discusses your options directly with you — no payment before this conversation happens.
  2. Three-bureau report review. We compare your Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion reports side by side to find discrepancies and identify what actually looks disputable versus what's accurate.
  3. Individualized action plan. A written plan covering any legitimate disputes, plus realistic near-term and longer-term steps like credit utilization management.
  4. Staff-reviewed disputes. Any genuinely disputable item — see disputing credit report errors— is documented specifically and reviewed by staff before it's ever sent.
  5. Ongoing tracking. You can see the status of every dispute, response, and document through a secure client portal.

How this differs from what some companies falsely promise

Some credit-repair operators promise guaranteed deletions, a specific number of points added to your score, or removal of accurate negative information — none of which any legitimate company can actually deliver, and promising it violates the Credit Repair Organizations Act. Legitimate credit repair identifies genuine errors and disputes them specifically; it does not manufacture outcomes the law doesn't allow.

Why timelines vary

Bureaus generally have 30 days to investigate a dispute once it's filed, but how many rounds of disputes are needed, and how a furnisher responds, varies by case — there is no universal timeline we can promise, and any company that gives you an exact completion date for your specific results is not being accurate with you.

What we are not allowed to do

Under the CROA, we cannot charge you before services are actually performed, cannot make false claims about what we can accomplish, and must give you a written contract with a three-business- day right to cancel. See our credit repair overview for the fuller picture of your rights under that law.
