Editorial Policy

This describes our own editorial process, not legal advice.

Who writes this content

Every educational page on this site is written by Credit by Yelison's own staff — not outsourced, and not generated without review. Each page shows a byline, a publish date, and a last-reviewed date so you can see its age at a glance.

What we base content on

Where a page makes a factual or legal claim — how long an item can stay on a report, what a bureau is required to do when investigating a dispute, what a law requires — we cite the underlying statute or link to the relevant government source (the Federal Trade Commission, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, or IdentityTheft.gov) rather than asserting it without support.

What we will never do

  • Claim a guaranteed deletion, score increase, or loan approval.
  • Claim we can remove accurate, timely, verifiable negative information.
  • Claim a specific timeline for your individual results.
  • Claim government or bureau affiliation.
  • Claim legal representation unless a licensed attorney is actually involved.
  • Publish a fabricated statistic, case study, credential, or reviewer.
